Please find below information about the development and functioning of the e-conference together with some guidelines for participants and contributors. If you require any assistance or have any comments please do not hesitate to contact Fiona Grant at the following address: fian@ceh.ac.uk
Click here to subscribe to the e-conference. If you subscribed for the last e-conference, you do not need to subscribe again.
1. Logging into the web forum as a new user:
In order to be given a username and password, you will be asked to subscribe as a New User and will be asked for your name and e-mail address. Once this has been checked, you will receive an e-mail giving you a username and password. You can then login as an existing user. To have WebBoard remember you on future visits, check the "Remember my password" box on the login page and when entering the board from the same browser, you will skip directly to the main conference page. To change your password once you have logged in, click "More..." on the web board menu, select "My Profile" and amend your password. Save the details at the end of the page to upgrade your profile.
2. Receiving messages directly into your mailbox:
This is set as a default for this e-conference. If you do not wish to receive messages directly in your inbox for particular sessions (or all sessions), please email fian@ceh.ac.uk as soon as possible.
3. Posting contributions:
In order to contribute to the e-conference, you must be subscribed as an existing user. To post a contribution, you can use the e-mailing format (by simply replying to a received message in your inbox), or by selecting the appropriate session on the website and clicking on "Post a new topic to this conference" option. If you encounter any difficulties subscribing or posting a contribution, please contact or send your contribution directly to fian@ceh.ac.uk
Guests will be able to view the posted contributions even if they are not subscribed but will be unable to post contributions.
Please note that this is a moderated system. That is to say that your contribution will not automatically be forwarded to other participants or posted on the website and may be edited by the e-conference committee. Your contribution will be posted to participants and uploaded on the web site within a maximum of 24 hours from the moment you send it.
In order to keep a common standard of the contributions posted to the e-conference, please take the following guidelines into account:
- Your text should not be longer than one A4 page .
- Please make sure that your contribution includes the following information:
*Title of the contribution (Subject of your e-mail)
*Your name and organisation
*An abstract or descriptive sentence that summarises the content of your contribution.
Please note that attachments (pictures, graphs, tables) will not be forwarded to participants' mail boxes, but will be included on the website and in the final report of the e-conference.
